Mater Misericordiae Parish has an opening for an interim (and possibly permanent) bass section leader through Christmas. Responsibilities include approximately forty Masses per year, weddings, and weekly rehearsals Tuesday evening 7:00–8:45. Pay is $50 per rehearsal and $60 per Mass (1.5 to 2 hours per call); $70 for weddings. The mixed choir repertory list is available here, and you may view the current choir schedule here. Strong sight-reading and good technique for both choral and solo singing are required, as well as willingness to sing challenging music alongside volunteers of various levels of ability. Sufficient keyboard skills to lead sectional rehearsals are strongly preferred. There is opportunity for additional income for a practicing Catholic skilled in Gregorian chant by also singing with the men's schola cantorum, which meets Wednesday evening 7:30-9:00 and sings every Sunday plus about 30 additional Masses per year. Most Masses are at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in south Phoenix (Southern & 44th St.), with rehearsals and occasional Masses at Mater Misericordiae near the Capitol (Monroe & 16th Ave.). Please contact Patrick Williams at choir@phoenixlatinmass.org if interested.

Background check and diocesan Safe Environment Training certification are required, and compliance with the church dress code is nonnegotiable for choir members. Mater Misericordiae is a parish of the diocese of Phoenix served by the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP) with exclusive use of the traditional, pre-Vatican II Roman rite in Latin.
